I believe I've found the answer on O'Rileys auto parts.  Most early alternators are about 40 amps, then 63 amps based on application.  My 10si looks as if it's 63 amps--which is WAY more than I ever use.

Alternator Questions / How do I identify which model of alternator I have?

I have an elderly Willys jeep which had been converted to a 12v alternator prior to my ownership. Looking at pictures, I believe it is a "10si", and if that's the case, then how do I determine the amperage output?
I do know that there is a 30 amp fuse between the B+ terminal and the battery and it has never blown regardless of load and/or rpm. There are NO marks on the unit.

Any ideas?
