Alternator Questions / What to do with my old alternator?

I'm so satisfied with my new dual rectifier that I don't want to keep my old 200 amper anymore.
Can I send it to as a thank you?

The rear end-cover is installed 1/4 turn off. This is preventing it from sliding into the bolt mounts. Can I remove the end cover and rotate it to the right place, or should I send it back?

Above is the alternator that I think is bad. I'm waiting on the arrival of the Dual Rectifier 200 amp. If it's going to be a simple swap, I'll take pics of the job and post them up in here.

Hello all, great site. I have an 01 Chevy Suburban with a yellow-top Optima battery that needs to be jump-started almost every time. It has a 200 amp alternator that was installed by a local shop that for many reasons, I will not ever go back to for any type of service.

Anyhow, when testing the alt, I get a 14.4 reading @ 2500rpm on the voltmeter. I don't know what the numbers should be or if the problem might even be the battery, which is about a year old. This is the third Optima since the alternator install, they've only been lasting about a year.

Did my local garage scam me somehow? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
