Hi - I had cause to remove my alternator from a 1983 T25 VW van because I need to fit a replacement mounting bracket. When I took the alternator off, something was rattling around inside it. I tipped it on its back and these pieces of a component fell out (see image). Can anyone identify it and tell me what the implications are for my alternator?

Thanks very much

I'm not sure what those could be, the alternator in question appears to be a Bosch unit which I don't have much knowledge with. I will try to find a way to help you identify this component.

Hi Drew

That's kind of you to reply, but don't worry I have it sorted - it was a rectifier diode and I have had the unit repaired now

Thanks again
