cs130 to ad244

I have a 1987 s-10 blazer 4x4 with a 2.8. The cs130 on it is set up with 3 wires coming out of the plug on the back. What do I have to do if possible to retrofit a ad244 on it? The mounting I can do easy enough its just getting the wiring to work I'm having issues with.

Also later on I plan on running a second ad244, how do you suggest I wire it into the system?

The AD244 uses the same plug as the CS130D, but the wiring is the same between the CS130 and 130D, so all you need to do is get an AD244 repair plug from http://store.alternatorparts.com/partno461810.aspx

Thats what I first thought also. I've tried to just swap my wires over to a newer plug and my truck went haywire. The setup in my blazer is a 3wire system and it doesn't seem the ad244 likes it (every one I've seen was a 2 wire).  It popped fuses, burnt all the gauge lights, and the high and low headlights both stayed on on a 2 headlight setup.

You need a resisted ignition wire to the L terminal of the AD244 regulator. I've included some diagrams of both the CS130 and AD244 plugs. Sorry about the wait.

I was under the impression the battery light in the truck acted as the resistor. What size resistor do you suggest I start with.

I've already had the alt in and it was working fine until I turn the headlights on and then all havoc.

From Page 6 of our CS130 Series repair instructions. Use a resistor of any value between 35 ohm, 5 watt, and 500 ohm. 1/2 watt between battery and "L" terminal.
